Chris Ketola and a team of interns and volunteers undertook a rapid assessment of fauna at the Kotsimba Native Community. Community members have approached Fauna Forever to help them conserve their community forest which is threatened by gold mining. A combination of scientific tourism (research groups like ours) and birdwatching tourism may be a way of achieving this in the short term.
