Volunteer

Volunteering is a great example of positive work undertaken in exchange for a private, non-monetary benefit or experience. Some volunteers even contribute monetarily towards these experience as it becomes evident that many activities frequently cost money to implement. Every year, volunteers sign up in their millions around the world for activities and projects that ultimately grow human welfare and happiness.

There are a plethora of volunteering opportunities out there, but the majority tend to fall into four main categories; environmental, community, education, and humanitarian. Volunteers benefit in multiple ways from these experiences; through learning and developing new skills and knowledge, building  self-worth and confidence, and through socializing, having fun, learning about new cultures, resume/CV development and making contacts for possible future employment.

Without volunteers it would be more difficult, more expensive, or indeed impossible to undertake many crucial projects and activities. This is certainly the case with Fauna Forever, which offers research and conservation focused volunteer experiences, as well as community-based and educational activities in and around the rainforest protected areas of Tambopata.

Volunteers provide a valuable service to our wildlife research and conservation work, by learning field research techniques and using these new skills to assist our research coordinators with data collection, data management, and data analysis tasks for periods of 10-21 days at a time.

Without the help of volunteers, this particular work would not have proceeded so well or have generated the required quantity of data to influence the health and wellbeing of wild nature in the Tambopata rainforest now and into the future.
