When it comes to research, conservation and education in the Peruvian Amazon, Fauna Forever aims high. But there is only so much the permanent and seasonal staff can accomplish. Our team of skilled, motivated interns enjoy a fabulous opportunity working with us; they extend our reach and deliver our projects more efficiently. In return, interns learn what it takes to manage and work within our organization; gaining invaluable experience in an office and field setting, within a foreign country, guiding both their personal and career development.
Fauna Forever offers several types of internship. Research and conservation interns design and lead small field projects that answer specific but important research and conservation questions. These are frequently written up into thesis and dissertation documents for higher education credits back in their home country.
Field logistics interns assist with a multitude of tasks relating to the accommodation, transport, feeding, and equipment requirements of staff, volunteers, visiting researchers, and other interns both in Puerto Maldonado and in the field. Social media interns record interesting stories and facts gleaned by working alongside our staff, volunteers, researchers and interns, as well as from encounters and arranged interviews with locals and visiting experts. They project these into the public domain through our social media and journalistic channels.
Office-based interns help with the day to day tasks of running Fauna Forever, including managing our databases, editing website information, picking up volunteers from the airport, arranging events, and general errand-running, amongst other things.
